black & white
I grew up in the era of black & white. The very first print I ever made was from a 620 format negative in the wardrobe of my bedroom when I was about 13. Photography was my major work in my last year of high school.
When I started working as a photographer, I spent hours every day appreciating the qualities of fine enlarger lenses and resin coated photo papers. The sound of a paper safe is music to my ears and my nose flares at the thought of Ilford Rapidfix. I have the night vision of an owl from years of working in darkrooms and I can (somewhat weirdly) 'see' scenes in black and white.
I shoot everything in colour, but I have a genuine love of monochrome.
